Rev. Lorne's Notice of Retirement
Copy of Rev. Lorne's Notice of Retirement sent to parishioners September 12, 2022
This is to advise you that I will be retiring from my appointment as incumbent of the Church of Saint John the Baptist, Pointe Claire, effective January 1, 2023. As some of you may already know, present health concerns with my aging parents, both of whom are in their early 90's and who live in Calgary, have prompted my wife and I to decide to relocate there in order to support them as best we can and for as long as we can. Consequently my decision to retire at this year’s end.
By the end of 2022 we will have been together for 7 1/2 years. During that time I have been blessed by the privilege of sharing in the life of faith with you. Our journey together has seen several challenges and changes, nevertheless we have experienced both joy and blessing along the way. I hope that I have been able to fulfill at least some of the desires you had for the parish when you invited me to be your priest in 2015. I thank you for your prayers and for all the support, encouragement and guidance you have given me as your incumbent. Your commitment and service to this parish have truly been a blessing to me, to the common good of one another and I believe to the glory of God. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Lord at Saint John the Baptist and for your trust in me. May the Lord continue to bless you all in the years ahead.
